Define what the trial was intended to learn

Write the purpose of the trial: compare a design family, check a sewn application or understand which variants buyers request. Separate those questions from the total amount purchased. A small trial may answer a construction question without showing wider demand. Review against the original purpose rather than declaring the whole range successful or unsuccessful from a few conversations.

Record requests separately from completed sales

For each reference, distinguish what customers viewed, asked to sample, requested a quote for and actually purchased in your own sales records. Note any unavailable colour or missing specification that blocked a decision. Website contact clicks are useful indicators of interest but do not prove a received enquiry or sale. Keep the evidence source clear when comparing variants.

Review workshop and stock outcomes

Ask the workshop which samples were accepted, which layouts needed changes and what usable material remained. Separate design rejection from an incorrect quantity or unclear unit. Compare actual consumption with the planning record and note why it differed. A trim that generated enquiries may still need a clearer cutting plan before a larger purchase is sensible.

Choose the next action by reference

Assign each line an action: reorder the accepted variant, request missing information, trial an alternative or pause the item. Include the evidence and unresolved question beside that action. Ask for current availability and terms before committing to the next order. This creates a focused follow-up enquiry rather than expanding every colour and design simply because the first trial has ended.

  • Trial objectives and evidence sources stated.
  • Interest, sales and workshop outcomes kept distinct.
  • A defined next action for each selected reference.
