Mark the finished edge first

Draw the visible corner or opening at actual size and mark the seam allowance separately. Lay the scalloped sample against this line without stretching it. Identify where each high and low point falls. A straight strip can look balanced along an edge but place half a motif at the exact corner, so check the turn before calculating the order from straight lengths alone.

Compare several ways to turn

Ask the sewing team to compare a continuous turn, a planned join or a separate corner detail using spare sample material. Judge each from the face and reverse. The correct choice depends on the actual construction and desired look; a photograph does not establish that the backing can bend, be cut or overlap neatly. Keep the approved corner sample for production reference.

Finish both visible ends deliberately

At cuffs, slits and front openings, show the first and last complete motif on the cutting plan. Decide whether both ends should mirror or simply end cleanly. Do not rely on the last offcut from a roll to complete a prominent opening. Allocate usable lengths from the actual repeat and keep any trial pieces separate from stock reserved for production.

Order from the approved cutting layout

Include the reference, measured repeat, corner count and opening-end photographs in the enquiry. State the number of garments and ask about continuous lengths and joins. Quote any required spare material explicitly rather than hiding it in an unexplained allowance. This lets the buyer understand which part of the quantity is used in garments and which part supports sampling or cutting.
