Use names to browse, then inspect construction
Suppliers may use lace, embroidery and decorative border for overlapping product groups. Treat the name as a starting point. Request an overall photograph, a close view and a reverse view of the exact option. Identify the spaces between motifs, the supporting ground and the finished edges. Do not infer fibre content or manufacturing method from an open pattern or a floral outline.
Compare the same finished width
Put candidates on a drawn attachment line and hide the allowance that will enter the seam. Compare what remains visible. A broad mesh margin can make one item appear larger in a photograph even when its decorative area is smaller. Check the narrowest and widest points of a shaped edge, then decide which measurement actually controls your garment specification.
Let the placement decide the useful test
For a sheer panel, compare backing visibility on the intended cloth. For a cuff, check touch and movement. For a curved opening, test whether the border follows the line without forcing it. Record the sample outcome rather than describing one whole category as softer, stronger or easier to sew. Those conclusions need evidence for the individual product and construction.
Request a like-for-like comparison
Choose a few references from both collections and give them the same placement brief, colour target and required quantity. Ask for confirmed material details, available sizes, sales units and sample terms. When reviewing the quotation, separate the purchase price from cutting and attachment work. A visually attractive alternative is useful only if its finished result fits the design and production process.
