Low-profile or raised beadwork: comparing the assembled surface

Ask for a side view

A front-facing photograph shows motif shape but can hide how far beads project above the backing. Request an angled and side view of the exact variant. Distinguish a single layer from stacked or clustered decoration without assuming the bead material. Where projection affects the design, ask how it can be measured or represented by a physical sample rather than estimating from shadows.

Map nearby contact surfaces

Place the sample where it will sit on the garment and identify nearby sleeves, scarf edges, bags or folded panels that may touch it in normal use. Compare a lower-profile alternative at the same location. This is an assessment of the whole arrangement, not a blanket claim that raised beadwork is unsuitable. Record which contact points need a construction trial.

Review handling and packing in the chosen layout

Try the planned folding or hanging arrangement with the assembled sample. Note whether decoration presses into another embellished area or leaves unsupported projecting sections. Ask the supplier about the proposed packing for that item, and agree on separation where needed. Do not infer resistance to pressure or abrasion from an attractive side profile; those questions need specific evidence or an agreed assessment.

Record the chosen profile with the reference

Send the selected variant, side-view photograph and garment placement with the requested quantity. State whether the sample is for appearance selection or an assembled contact and packing trial. Keep unresolved performance questions visible in the approval record. This helps the supplier respond to the actual requirement instead of treating every bead cluster in one family as interchangeable.
