Start with a representative fabric section
Use enough of the printed fabric to show its main shapes and quieter areas. A tiny plain-looking swatch may conceal the print that will surround the trim. Place the candidate at its intended neckline, opening or hem position on that section. Record whether the print is directional and where the garment cutter plans to place its strongest feature.
Compare a focal trim and a quieter option
Try one trim that repeats a prominent shape and another that mainly frames the print. View both from the same distance, then inspect the border between print and decoration. The aim is to decide which element leads the garment, not to declare one combination universally correct. Keep photographs of both options so the buying team can explain the chosen direction.
Review more than one print colourway
If a fabric print comes in several colourways, compare the trim against each planned version. A shared trim may work for some versions while another needs a different tone or outline. Record this as a trim-to-fabric mapping, not a statement that every colour option in the catalogue matches. Keep physical references for the combinations where colour is important.
Enquire with paired fabric and trim references
Add each selected trim reference to the enquiry and state the fabric colourway beside it. Attach a whole-panel view and a close-up, with quantities separated by the approved combination. Ask for samples where the relationship is still uncertain. Confirm material and care information independently; visual coordination does not establish that the components share the same treatment requirements.

- Alternatives viewed at equal distance and placement.
- Quantities assigned to each fabric/trim combination.
